Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has sent a letter to heads of parliaments of the United Nations (UN) member countries calling for tougher pressure on Russia aimed at release of the Ukrainian political prisoners.

Groysman has told this to the ICTV channel.

"I have signed the address to the heads of parliaments of the UN member countries. I called on them to tougher the pressure on the aggressor, on that wild regime that imprisoned Nadiya Savchenko, and our other citizens. We all need a proper response from the UN member countries," Groysman said.

He also said that the whole world, especially Ukraine, does its best to draw attention to "the tragedy created by the regime of the Russian Federation against Ukrainian heroes." In particular, the coalition and parliamentary factions "are united in vision that we have to join and do our best to release Nadiya Savchenko," Groysman assured.

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada also noted that it is important that Nadiya Savchenko had stopped her dry hunger strike. "That means that she does acknowledge that we need her to be a healthy persons and that she will win," the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said.
